Our Story

Nestled in the heart of Plymouth, CT, Steve's Top Dog & Smokehouse welcomes guests with open arms. With its cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu bursting with mouthwatering dishes, it's the perfect place to unwind and savor a delightful meal. Our diverse menu caters to every palate, whether you're looking for a leisurely dinner with loved ones, a lunch catch-up with friends,  a solo meal at the bar, or a romantic date on a Friday night. From humble beginnings as a food truck in Bristol, CT, Steve's Top Dog has been serving up conversation alongside delicious food since 2007. What started as a one-man operation, with Steve playing the role of both chef and friendly conversationalist (earning him the nickname "the bartender of food"), has grown into a beloved local bright-yellow gem. Now, the food truck serves at E.G. Stocks Playground on Middle Street in Bristol, CT.

In July 2025, Steve accomplished his dream of opening a restaurant, thus expanding the Steve's Top Dog brand into a brick-and-mortar location: Steve's Top Dog & Smokehouse at 18 Main Street in Plymouth, CT. Here, he blended his food truck staples with his smokehouse meats and French-Canadian roots into the delicious menu we offer to you today.

Over the past 2 decades, our hearts have been in not only the food we create, but the people we serve. Our slogan, "we can't do us without you," is a testament to how it took Steve, his staff, and his patrons to make this all happen. Together, at Steve's, everyone is family.
